Hello Bulldog Families,

I want to take this opportunity to welcome all of our new and returning families to Mead Middle School. We are excited to start the 25-26 school year and look forward to seeing your student(s) next week. Please take a few minutes to read the below newsletter for important beginning of the year information.

First Day of School

Wednesday, Aug. 13th: 6th Graders and new 7th and 8th Graders to our building

Thursday, Aug. 14th: All Students

Student Schedules

Student schedules will be available in Infinite Campus on Monday, Aug. 11th. At the same time schedules are released, 6th grade parents will receive an email with their students’ team. 6th graders will be entering the building on the first day in their teams so please help them locate this information.

iPads

Returning St Vrain students should bring their iPad from the previous school year (this includes incoming 6th graders).

Information regarding the use of your child’s iPad can be found here. This includes information about tips for home use, insurance and basic care/troubleshooting.

All families will need to sign the iPad student/parent expectations and commitments paperwork. This document needs to be digitally signed in Infinite Campus. Please follow these instructions for signing this document.

iPad Insurance

The student iPad insurance window for the 2025-2026 school year is open through September 15. Parents who wish to join the insurance pool for this year must make at least a partial payment by September 15.

The insurance fee will be added to all eligible students. Please note that any student with an unpaid balance for iPad insurance from the previous year will not be eligible to join the pool this year until their previous balance is paid in full. 2025-2026 LTP Student iPad insurance: $25.

Read more about the Student iPad Insurance Program here.

Transportation

Buses will begin running on the 13th.  Please see here for more information on transportation and eligibility.  Parents must complete a new bus rider application every school year.  If you have completed the application, the bus schedule will be available the week school starts.

Carpool Information

Mead Middle School has partnered with Way to Go to offer this program to our parents as a free service with the goal of reducing traffic congestion and minimizing the stress of getting children to and from school. Rest assured, your information will only be shared with participating Mead Middle school families. No one else will ever see your information, unless you share your information with families at other schools.

The Schoolpool secure mapping service can be used for trip planning, or emergency trips and is a great resource to meet nearby families for other reasons, such as play-dates and babysitters.

The more families that register, the more likely you are to find good matches. Contact Way to Go at (303) 458-7665 or [email protected] for assistance.

  1. Create an account and register your household address or intersection here (to maintain the highest level of privacy and security, this link is the only way to Mead Middle School participants to register).
  2. Add comments to indicate special requests or preferences, such as “can provide morning rides in exchange for afternoon rides,” “student is in after-school activities,” or “looking for a walk buddy in the mornings.”
  3. Find and contact interested Mead Middle School families in your neighborhood or along your drive to/from school.

Student Planners

All Mead Middle School students will be using a paper planner to help keep them organized. The planners will be where they write down their daily homework assignments and long term assignments. All Math, English, Social Studies and Science teachers will end their classes by going over homework and have students use their planners. Our hope is that these planners will be a good organizational tool for students and will also give parents a quick place to look for the homework their child has for the evening. Mead Middle will provide each student with a planner at the beginning of the year. If you wish to provide your own planner, that is certainly acceptable. We do ask that the planner have calendar pages so that your child can write down both daily assignments and long term assignments. If you are providing your child with a planner, please have them bring it to their first day of school.

Hats

Mead Middle School students will be allowed to wear hats. Hats must be school appropriate. We are still asking that students not pull their hoods up on hoodies, as it makes it difficult to see who the students are.

Student Hours in the Building

All students not participating in a school activity or being directly supervised by an adult may not enter the building before 7:42 and must be out of the building by 3:00.

Day A and Day B: Day A and Day B only impacts 7th and 8th grade students in their science and social studies classes. The St. Vrain calendar denotes which days are “A Days” and which days are “B Days.” This information is also in announcements at the beginning of each school day.

Parking Lot Safety

  1. Drop students off on the West curb.
  2. If you are dropping off or picking up a student, please pull as far forward as possible in the lane and only drop off/pick up students at the curb. Please don’t “double park” and drop off/pick up students. It is dangerous for students to cross the pick up lane traffic to get to a car on the other side.
  3. The west curb is for “quick” drop offs. If you are going to park for an extended period of time, please park in a parking spot.
  4. If parking in the lot, please leave space for kids to walk in between cars. Also, please be very careful when pulling away from your spot.
  5. Please talk to your child about not running out into the parking lot to your car. Please reinforce that you will pick them up on the curb, or that they can use the crosswalk to get to your car in the parking lot.
  6. Please stay off your cell phone in our parking lot.

Finally, please drive slowly and be patient with others. Don’t let frustration cause a preventable accident.

Mead Middle School Spirit Gear

Our fantastic Mead Middle School PAC (Parent Advisory Committee) will be selling spirit wear from 2:45-3:15, August 13-15, outside of the front entrance (weather permitting).

Student Cell Phones and Earbuds

Mead Middle School recognizes that cell phones are a common item for our middle school students. Phones can be an excellent way for parents to be able to communicate with their children. We also know that cell phones can be a significant distraction for students in a classroom setting. Mead Middle has instituted the following policies on student cell phones.

  1. Students’ cell phones must be put away at all times during class. Cell phones should either be in the student’s locker, in their backpack, or in the teacher’s phone pouches for the duration of class time. Students should also not be using personal earbuds during class (unless explicitly allowed by the teacher).
  2. If a student needs to use the restroom during class, they should not bring their cell phone with them.
  3. Students are allowed to use their personal cell phones on school grounds before or after school, during passing periods and during lunch.
  4. If you have an urgent message to be relayed to your child, please call the front office at (970) 535-4446.

Food Deliveries

We cannot accept food deliveries from delivery companies like DoorDash or UberEats. As you can understand, we want to limit the number of people entering our building. We are happy to take a food delivery from a parent, just not a delivery company.

Absence from School

It is very important when a student is absent from school that the parent/guardian telephone on the morning of the absence (970) 535-4446.

Prearranged Absences: If a student knows he/she will be absent, the parent/guardian must contact the office. Failure to prearrange an absence may result in the absence not being excused.

Make-Up Work:

  1. Check Schoology for homework and assignments.
  2. Collect any missed worksheets from the designated area in each classroom.
  3. See each teacher upon return.

Tardies

Students arriving at school late must report to the office for an admit slip before reporting to class.

Volleyball

Girls volleyball registration is open until August 17th. Registration can be found here.  Please see here for detailed season information, including a calendar that shows our practices and game schedule.
