Mead Middle School Update:

Welcome to the 2015-2016 school year!  School will start before you know it.  We wanted to pass along some information for you before things begin.

When is my student’s first day?

6th and new 7th and 8th graders to the building: August 19th

7th and 8th graders that attended Mead Middle School last year: August 20th

When will my student receive their iPad?

6th and new 7th and 8th graders to the building: August 14th, 17th, and 18th.  Parents need sign up for an appointment on our school website.

7th and 8th graders that attended Mead Middle School last year: These students will receive their iPad on August 21st during the school day.  Students will need to have a new student-parent agreement signed by both the student and the parent.  These will be sent home on August 20th.  Any student without one of the agreements signed by August 26th will have their iPad taken back by the school.  The device will be returned once we have the student-parent agreement paperwork.

When can my child see their schedule?

Schedules can be viewed via Infinite Campus starting on August 18th.  Parents can also find bus schedules on Infinite Campus.  Student’s first class of the day will also be posted outside the building the morning of the first days of school.  Students will receive a paper copy of their schedule in their first class.

iPad Insurance:

The $35 insurance fee has been added to your child’s account and can be paid via RevTrak or at the front office.  In order for your child’s iPad to be covered under the insurance policy the fee needs to be paid by September 11th.  After September 11th the fee will be deleted and insurance will no longer be available.  We do highly encourage every student to carry insurance on their iPad.  Changes to the policy for the 15-16 school year:

• Loss or theft will be covered at half the cost of the iPad.

• Second repair will hold a limit of $150 out of pocket charges

• Insurance will ensure a quicker turn around time for repairs.

Back To School Night:  

Back to School Night is August 27th.  There is a PAC lemonade social at 5pm.  Mr. Barnett will speak with all parents at 5:45 and Parents will meet with teachers starting at 6:15.  

New Staff:

As many of you know, Nadene Volkoffkoester (Mrs. V) left us for Texas this year.  In addition to her position, we also lost a few more teachers over the summer.  Mrs. Lerae, Mrs. Updegraff, and Mrs. Scott all left for other opportunities.  The following teachers will be filling their spot for the 2015-2016 school year.

Jason Cunningham is taking Michele LeRae’s position.  Mr. Cunningham is coming from Estes Park where he has taught for the past 3 years.

Paul Drake will be taking over for Mrs. V.  Mr. Drake is moving from the Chicago area where he  taught physical education for many years.  Mr. Drake is also originally from Australia.

Amanda McIntire will be filling Emily Scott’s role.  Many of you may know Mrs. McIntire as she is coming from Mead Elementary.

Jaime Updegraff’s vacancy occurred this week.  Due to this fact, we have not filled her position yet.  We will be holding interviews next week to replace her.
