Here at Mead, we offer a competitive robotics team for 6th, 7th and 8th graders that is separate from the technology classes offered during the school day. This team will meet after school, once a week, in order to prepare for competitions. This competitive team offers students a chance to collaborate together to build robots, using the VEX IQ robotics materials, that can perform a variety of tasks. After completion of their robotics builds, we test them through internal and external competitions throughout the District and State level. This program is a natural fit for students who are interested in STEM based learning. We focus on engineering, mathematics, computer programming, teamwork, and 21st Century Skills. Students who are interested in joining the Competitive Robotics Team must commit to the entire season and pay the associated $55 District fee and $10 t-shirt.
