Weekly Update 11_20_15

Mead Middle School Weekly Update:

Have a wonderful, happy and safe holiday week!

Open Enrollment for 2016-2017 school year

Mead Middle School will be accepting open enrollment applications for the 2016-2017 school year for all grade levels.  The window for new students wishing to open enroll opens on December 1st.  For information and specifics please visit the St. Vrain Valley School District Enrollment link: http://svvsd.org/files/policy/JFBA_JFBB_R.pdf

A few things to note about open enrollment:

  1. If your child is going from 6th to 7th or 7th to 8th, you DO NOT have to fill out another form.  Your child is automatically accepted.

  2. Siblings of students who have been granted open enrollment status will be approved for open enrollment, as long as the sibling will have concurrent enrollment at Mead Middle for the 2016-2017 school year.

  3. Just because your student was accepted for open enrollment at the middle school does NOT mean they will automatically be accepted by Mead High School.  You will need to repeat the open enrollment process at Mead High if you wish for your child to attend there as a 9th grader.

Holiday Gift Cards from our PAC:

The PAC is also offering Gift Card purchasing. This is a great way to get many of your present needs covered in one place! A flyer/order form went home with your student today and will be due back by December 1st. Orders will be in by December 15th and available for pick up in the office or distributed to your student to bring home via signature by you to do so.  We also have Regal Cinema cards available for purchase for the new Theatre in Longmont!

Cold Weather Reminders:

As the daylight gets shorter and cold weather approaches, it is a good time to remind everybody about a few items that often come up in the colder months.

-All students not participating in a school activity or working directly with an adult need to be out of the building by 3:00.

-If your student is at an afterschool activity, please pick them up promptly as we do not want students waiting in the dark.

– We love our students to attend games and dances.  If your student attends these functions, the expectation is that they are sitting in the stands or in the dance area.  Students are not allowed to go outside or roam the building.  If students do go outside, they will be asked either to return to the correct area, or go home.   We simply do not have the manpower to supervise students in those other areas.
-Please make sure your students are dressed appropriately for the weather.  If we were to have an emergency evacuation, students may have to leave the building without getting their coats.  This could require your child to be in the cold for an extended period of time.  There is a big difference between waiting in the cold in a long sleeved shirt, pants, and shoes, than a tee shirt, shorts and sandals.

NOT ABLE TO GET YOUR KIDS AFTER SCHOOL?

Mead Middle School has an after school ENRICHMENT program called Bulldogs Den that begins at 2:50-6:00 pm in the Cafeteria. We are open Monday-Friday (when school is open). We provide sacks, homework time, activities, games, free-time, and friendships. Bulldogs Den provides a safe place for them to grow and enjoy networking with other students.

If you are wondering what to do with your child on late start days, beginning in February our Community School program will be offering morning child care.  More information will be coming, so keep your eyes out for details!

Athletics at Mead Middle School:
